‘The residue of white male authority: elite masculine networks in twentieth-century Australia and their relationship to politics now’ Symposium CFP

4 October 2019, University of Melbourne

A one-day symposium for scholars interested in participating in an ARC Discovery Project application concerned with elite masculine networks and their historical influence on Australian politics will be held at the University of Melbourne on Friday 4 October 2019.  

The morning session will consist of short papers about suitable case studies, with a view to building up a case-based history of masculine elites with direct or indirect links to politics in Australia during the twentieth century. The afternoon session will consist of papers about methods and disciplinary mix. Possibilities include history of masculinity, gender history, feminist history, history of emotions; history of sexuality; traditional history of politics, government; media history; business history; digital history; sociology.
