Seminar: Fact Factories: Wikipedia and Writing History as it Happens (online)

In this seminar, Heather Ford will discuss her forthcoming book, Fact Factories, and how the mirroring and refracting of material realities on Wikipedia helped frame and determine the result of protests against Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak in 2011. The talk is about the writing of history as it happens, about the role of automated technology in our collaborative narration of events and about how Wikipedia’s narration will always be a partial one.
