The book explores how the diverse population of the British Empire experienced the World War I, ranging from rebellions in southern Africa, shipping shortages in Nigeria, Indian mutineers in Singapore, munitions workers in Canada, conscription controversies in New Zealand and the creation of agrarian political parties in Ireland and Australia.
