Postgraduate Report July 2009

Hi all,

I hope those of you who attended the AHA conference at the Sunshine Coast had an enjoyable and productive time! I know I did and I've been missing that warm Sunshine Coast weather ever since. For those who didn't attend I hope your week was equally productive, whether you were immersed in research or writing up your wonderful theses, or something equally as exciting! I know some people attended other conferences, feel free to tell us about those experiences on the Facebook or Google site, I'd certainly love to hear about them.

I will be writing a report on the CAL/AHA bursary experience which will be put up on the website, so if any bursary holders have any particular comment they would like mentioned in the report let me know.

I will also be attending the annual National Archives/AHA meeting in Canberra on 29 July. So if anyone has any particular issues relating to postgraduate research at the archives you would like raised at the meeting just let me know and I will do my best to raise your concerns/comments.

  Dear AHA postgrads,

Hope everyone is going well with research, study, teaching and anything else you might be up to towards the end of the year! You may remember in an earlier newsletter I mentioned a discussion board. Well, it's all up and running now, some people have joined and discussion has begun! We are a big, geographically diverse group and we don't get many opportunities to meet up, apart from the conference. The discussion board then is one way of keeping in contact, sharing the fun and sometimes frustration of research with people who are going through the same thing. I know I would love to hear from you all about what kinds of research or study you are doing, I'm guessing it is quite broad. So if you have time, join the discussion board, let us know what you're up to, and hopefully we can all feel a little more connected.

I wanted to send out a group invitation to everyone, making it easier for you to join, but google got upset with me (it seems that they thought I was sending spam) so to join, you just need to follow the link to the discussion board on the postgrad page of the AHA website, then you will get a message telling you you're not a member on the right hand-side of this page there is a link that says 'Apply for group membership' click on it and follow the prompts. Contact me if you have any problems, and I will invite you directly.

Best wishes, Bec.
