Membership
Jayne Persian, AHA Executive Officer, advises that the membership page for the joining or renewal of AHA membership 2010 is NOW OPEN via Register Now.
Please renew memberships by 28 February 2010.
AHA memberships run from when you join until the end of February in the following year. If you join or renew before February 2010 you will receive immediate online access to History Australia and will receive print editions from Volume 7 Number 1 2010. If you renew or join after the end of February, you will receive online access only to journals already published for 2010, but will receive all future print editions for that year if requested.
The AHA is a rapidly growing institution and membership brings many benefits. These include automatic print and online subscription to History Australia, which is produced three times/year; access to the AHA email network; and rights to present at AHA conferences and to discounted registrations. I trust you find that your membership helps to keep you in touch with the Australian history community.

The History Council of NSW is currently inviting nominations for the 2010 Max Kelly Medal.
The Max Kelly Medal plus a prize of $500 is awarded annually to a 'beginning' historian for a work of excellence in any aspect of Australian history.
|
The Medal was established as a tribute to Associate Professor Maxwell John Kelly (1935–1996), the first elected President of the History Council, who died suddenly in 1996.

Amsterdam Congress
|
|
The Amsterdam Congress is less than a year away and preparation is well under way. The updated program is posted on the Congress Website and on ICHS Website
The 2009 Bureau meeting was held in Tokyo, on 13 September, and the minutes of the meeting, in English and in French, are linked (Word format). They will also be posted on the ICHS Web site and will appear in the forthcoming issue of the Bulletin, to be mailed by the end of December.
|
The Amsterdam General Assembly will have to choose the venue for the next congress (2015). I take this opportunity to remind all members that proposals to hold the Congress must be sent to the secretariat no later than 22 February 2010. Only members of ICHS, National Committees or Affiliated International Organizations, can propose a bid. For those who wish to do so, a set of guidelines have been prepared by the secretariat (Cahier des charges/Specifications), underlining the various steps and requirements to present a bid. The secretariat will email the guidelines on demand. As well, the venue for the 2012 General Assembly is not yet decided and the Secretary general is welcoming proposals from members.
