Further to David Carment's note in Newsletter 21, Pam Oliver writes: I rang my Reference Officer at NAA in ACT about the warning David gave about re registration. There is also one additional change to the access policy that people should be aware of. If a record is OWE [Open with exception] on Record Search, it now must go back to Access and Examination for further assessment before it is issued to a reader. If anyone is wanting to view OWE files, they need to order them months in advance of needing to read them. Until about three months ago, such files were just issued to readers as OPEN files are and within the same time frame. This has changed. This is particularly important for people travelling interstate to NAA repositories. I only found out myself three weeks before an interstate trip and may not be able to see all of the files I wish to.
