SUMMARY:History Now Seminar: ‘Contested Histories Now’
DESCRIPTION:Are we in a new era of the History Wars? As monuments are defaced and torn down\, #changethedate gathers momentum in Australia\, and new national narratives resurge in Europe\, what ways do historians have to interrogate these contested narratives without being swallowed by polarisation? Do these contested histories reveal a new way of historical interpretation\, or simply confirm its subjectivity? In this timely panel discussion historians Stefan Berger (Ruhr University) and Heidi Norman (UTS) bring a comparative analysis to recent historical debates around the world. \nFurther information. \n
