Historical Consciousness: A Conversation

31 July 2015 @ 5.00 pm - 7.00 pm

An Australian Studies Research Network Seminar with Anna Clark, Tanya Evans and Hannah Forsyth.

What does it mean to feel connected to the past? What histories do we remember and what do choose to forget? This panel discussion explores the ways we think about history in contemporary society and the ways historians try to understand those historical connections. It looks at questions of historical inheritance, the relationship between history and our identity, and questions about the histories we make and consume: why do we love historical fiction? What makes us engage with the histories around us? And what do we want to pass on?
