Congratulations to Romain Fathi for his new book ‘Our Corner of the Somme: Australia at Villers-Bretonneux’

Congratulations to Romain Fathi for the publication of his new book Our Corner of the Somme: Australia at Villers-Bretonneux (Cambridge University Press, 2019). The book explores how the French remember Anzac. Or, rather, how they don’t, and how their alleged remembrance is staged by Australian agents of memory for the fulfilment of different agendas. This booktells the century-long story of French-Australian relations through previously unexplored and untranslated French primary materials and contributes to renewing our understanding of Australian war commemoration.
