Condemning US entry restrictions

Dear members,

I am sure like many of us you have watched the events in America with dismay and concern. Historians, members of the AHA and scholars promote and support the open exchange of ideas between researchers and writers from all over the world. In line with our colleagues at the American Historical Association, we condemn the actions of the Trump administration and deplore the laws that discriminate and stigmatise people on the basis of nationality, religion, race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.

We also acknowledge and support the organisers of The Berkshire Conference on the History of Women, Genders and Sexualities who declare that ‘all people are welcome to participate in events sponsored by the Berkshire Conference’.

Any AHA members who might be affected by these laws are welcome to contact the President of the AHA to offer support as might be required.

Lynette Russell (on behalf of the AHA Executive)
