Kylie Smith
Kylie was awarded her PhD in 19th Century Australian cultural history in May 2008 from the University of Wollongong, where she teaches history, Australian studies and social theory. Kylie has been an Editorial Trainee at Labour History Journal, and is the co-editor of a volume published by Routledge NY in April 2008 entitled Hegemony: Studies in Consensus and Coercion.
Her current research interests include the theorisation of social marginalisation, and the history of marginalised groups in Australian society.
In a previous life, Kylie was a child care worker, a film script writer and the administrator of a large multicultural health service.
Kylie is married with three dogs and spends most of her spare time making hand knitted socks!
