The Organising Committee of the 2007 Australian Historical Association Conference, Engaging Histories, University of New England, Armidale, together with the publisher, Wiley-Blackwell, are donating $500 for the best paper presented by a current postgraduate student in any field or period of history at the AHA conference. This includes papers delivered in the Australian Mining History Association Conference and Seventh Armidale Seminar in Mediterranean Antiquity, both of which form part of this year's AHA conference. The three judges, who will be appointed by the above committee in consultation with the AHA President serving at the time the Conference commences, will produce a shortlist and a citation for the winning paper. The judges reserve the right not to award the prize if no submission is of sufficient merit. The winner will be judged on the written version of the paper, which will also be considered for publication in the journal History Australia after undergoing the usual refereeing process. History Australia, the official journal of the AHA, aims to publish 'all the varieties of history pursued in Australia and New Zealand. These include European, Asian and African as well as Australasian; local, national and international; imperial and colonial; textual and oral and visual'. Contributors must be members of the AHA. Postgraduates who are also holders of full-time academic appointments of Level B and above are ineligible for this prize. Submissions should be of 5000-8000 words including references. A style guide, which should be followed carefully, is available online at: http://www.theaha.org.au/bulletin-contributions.html To be eligible, entries must be sent to Dr Erin Ihde, History, School of Humanities, University of New England, Armidale, NSW, 2351, via post or email.
