ARC Discovery Projects and DECRAs: latest results and some trends

The recent round of ARC awards announced by Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training, on 1 November 2016 included a significant number of grants within the broad fields of historical research, listed under the Field of Research two digit code DIV 21 History and Archaeology. We have put together a synthesis of these in the table below. If anyone is aware of any grants we may have overlooked we would welcome hearing from you. Of course, we can always hope for more funding in our area, but it is clear that the History discipline is well funded and healthy. The table shows that in Historical Studies (2103) many grants go to individuals while larger teams are more successful in Archaeology (2101). While collaborative team research has been emphasised over the past few years, it is evident that historians are not being disadvantaged by applying as individual researchers.
